About True Cost Homes

We Built This Company Because Homebuilding Needed It.

Most builders sell you a price. We show you the truth behind it — what your home really costs, where every dollar goes, and what happens at every stage of the build.

Framing a home under construction
Our Story

Born from a simple conviction: you deserve the whole truth.

For four years, our founder and his family lived and worked in some of the most underserved communities in Haiti — building programs and orphan care from the ground up. That experience taught us something most builders never learn: a home is not a product. It's the foundation a family builds an entire life on.

When we came home and started building in Kentucky, we saw an industry full of vague estimates, hidden allowances, and surprise change orders. Families were signing the biggest contract of their lives without ever seeing the real numbers. We knew there was a better way — so True Cost Homes was built around one non-negotiable idea: total transparency.

Today, every True Cost project runs on open-book accounting, clear process gates, weekly communication, and honest budgeting from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. And through The Dry Place Project, a portion of every project funds safe, dry housing for families in Haiti — because the home we build for you helps build one for someone else.

Meet the Founder

Ron Gantt started this company to tell you the whole truth.

Ron Gantt, founder of True Cost Homes

Ron Gantt

Founder, True Cost Homes

Before he ever started building homes, Ron Gantt spent his time defending the nation as a United States Marine — a veteran whose service earned him medals and a reputation as one of the best at what he did. He carried that same standard into a career producing national and international experiential campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola and John Deere, where he learned that big promises only work when the people making them deliver.

Then he spent a year working alongside a local builder, learning the ins and outs of homebuilding — and saw an industry that too often hides the truth. Buyers receive pricing all over the place, vague scopes, and no real clarity on what they're actually paying for. Ron started True Cost Homes to change all of that: clear, open-book pricing and a commitment to honesty at every step — from design and preconstruction, through the build, the warranty, and the life of your home. One single source of truth: what you're paying us, what your materials and trades cost, and what you're getting for your money.

Ron's passion for giving back runs just as deep. As a missionary, he and his wife and four children spent four years in Haiti building and doing orphan care — and that experience became one of True Cost Homes' core principles: build something meaningful here in America, and help build hope for people who would never otherwise have it.

"You shouldn't have to wonder what you're paying for. Open-book pricing isn't a feature — it's the whole point."

"I want to build something meaningful — great homes here, and hope for people who wouldn't otherwise have it."
